How to get free sample from sellers?

What are Free Samples?

Shopee’s Free Sample feature allows affiliates to request, test, and review products for free from a wide array of Shopee sellers to promote their shops and products.


Whitelisted affiliates can simply request a free sample via the Affiliate Portal. Sellers will review the request and, once approved, will ship the product.

Once the product is received, affiliates can test out the item and post a review about the sample. The posted content is then submitted to sellers in the form of a screenshot or post URL so that the seller can see what content is posted about them.

Requesting a Free Sample

Free Samples are only available to selected users at this time. Whitelisted affiliates will see a “Request Sample” button at the bottom of each Affiliate product detail page.

  1. Use “Request Sample” to begin the free sample process.
  2. Select your delivery address and desired product model / variation to be delivered.
  3. Lastly, agree to the terms of service for using the Free Sample function before submitting the request to the seller.

Please note, all free sample requests require participating affiliates to post content about the free sample on their social media. Proof of posting must be provided to sellers via the Affiliate Portal in order to complete the free sample request. Failure to do so may result in revoked access to the feature or other penalties at the discretion of Shopee.

Once a request has been submitted, a new page will become available. The “Free Sample” page is accessible via the homepage and houses all ongoing or completed free sample requests.



  1. The page organizes free sample requests by the current status of each request. Use the tabs to filter for different requests.
  2. Each request card includes information about the current status, items requested, and actions available.
  3. Tapping the request card will reveal more details about the specific request, including detailed next steps, delivery information / progress, and seller / product information.

Free Sample Request Management

Request Stages

All Free Sample Requests have four stages; Request Submission, Product Shipment, Product Receiving, Content Publishing & Link Submission.

Each step has various actions needed from either party which we will go through step-by-step now.

Create content using the free sample received, ensuring the sample is properly included in the content.

Post the content and submit the links via the “Submit Links” action on the app.

Managing Requests in the Shopee App

Free sample request pending approval

Upon submitting a new free sample request, a new request card will be displayed in the My Free Sample page. During this stage, the seller will review the request and approve if the requestor is the right fit for their shop brand. There is no action required.

  1. Under each request card you may:
  2. View the shop name & products requested.
  3. Tap any part of the card except the “Contact Seller” button to view the request details
  4. Use “Contact Seller” to start a chat with the seller should there be any clarifications required.
  5. In the request details page, a status overview is displayed at the top which contains detailed next steps for the current stage of the request.
  6. View the listed delivery address that the free samples will be delivered to (selected previously).
  7. View the shop name & products requested.
  8. Use “Cancel Request” to submit a cancellation request to the seller.
  9. Cancellation requests require approval from the seller.

Seller to ship the free product sample

Once the seller approves the request they will proceed to ship the free product sample. No action required. Wait for the seller to ship the free sample.

  1. Request status updated to “To Ship”. Currently pending seller to ship the free product samples to the set delivery address.
  2. If samples are not shipped within 5 calendar days from the sellers’ approval date, the project will be automatically canceled.
  3. Use “Contact Seller” to talk to the seller.

Receiving the free product sample

Once the shipment is enroute and has been received, indicate the product has been received.

  1. Request status updated to “To Receive”. Currently pending confirmation that the sample has been successfully delivered to the delivery address
  2. If samples are not received within 5 working days from the sellers’ shipment date, the request will be automatically cancelled.
  3. Track the shipment using the Shipping Tracking information.
  4. Use “Confirm Receipt” to mark the sample as successfully delivered.

Content creation and post link submission

Now that the product has been received, create content for social media that contains the free sample and information about the product. Once the content is ready, post the content and submit the links via the “Submit Links” action on the app.


  1. Project status updated to “To Publish”. Currently pending submission of post links as proof of execution.
  2. If post links are not submitted by the aligned posting deadline, the request will be marked as unfulfilled.
  3. Use “Submit Link” to begin the link submission process.
  4. Select the type of post / content to be submitted to the seller as proof of execution.
  5. For non-story (FB & IG) posts, a URL is required.
  6. URLs are checked to ensure the correct link is uploaded based on the post type.
  7. For story (FB & IG) posts, a photo is to be uploaded.
  8. Use “Add Link” to submit up to 3 posts to the seller.
  9. View submitted links & images on the summary page once completed.

Request completion

Once links have been submitted, the free sample request has been fulfilled!

Request Cancellations

Requests may be cancelled during the “To Approve”, “To Receive”, and “To Publish” stages.





  1. Use “Cancel Request” to begin the cancellation.
  2. Select a cancellation reason or input a reason using “Others”.
  3. Cancellation requests require approval from the seller.
  4. Cancellation requests may be withdrawn before the seller responds
