[Buyer Basics] Can I get a refund on the Goods & Services Tax (GST) paid?

From 1 January 2024, all goods shipped from overseas to Singapore via air/post are subject to 9% Goods & Services Tax (GST).

If you are a GST registered buyer who has purchased items via Shopee which are low-value goods (LVG of SG$400 or less per item) and are shipped from overseas to Singapore, please reach out to Shopee Customer Service to request for a refund on the GST charged.

⚠️ Note

  1. Additional information (e.g. registered business name / UEN /etc.) would be required for verification purposes before the refund can be processed.
  2. Successful GST refunds will be credited back to your original payment method, except for the following, which the refunds will be credited to your ShopeePay wallet.
  3. ShopeePay
  4. PayNow
  5. eGiro
  6. Installment Payment Plan (IPP)
  7. SPayLater
  8. If you have yet to activate your ShopeePay Wallet, you will receive Push Notification from Shopee to request activation. The refunded amount can be used for purchases or withdraw to your bank account.

For all other goods that do not fall under the definition of LVG (as defined above), you may contact the designated carrier specified in the shipment confirmation to obtain details regarding the actual import GST, or to obtain documentation or receipts in connection with customs clearance to support the claims in your GST return.

⚠️ Note

If you believe you have been charged GST twice (by both Shopee and Customs Department/designated carrier) for goods shipped from overseas to Singapore, please contact our Shopee Customer Service with supporting documents on the double charge to request for a refund.
