MSIG Insurance
1. How is the Travel Insurance arranged and provided?
The Travel Insurance is underwritten by MSIG Insurance (Singapore) Pte Ltd and distributed by MoneeInsure Agency SG Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sea Limited. The Shopee platform is operated by Shopee Singapore Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sea Limited. All insurance transactions on the Shopee platform are arranged and administered by MoneeInsure Agency SG Pte Ltd.
2. Who can apply for Travel Insurance?
Any person aged 18 years and above residing in Singapore can apply for the insurance.
3. Can foreigners buy Travel Insurance?
Yes, foreigners residing in Singapore and holding a valid employment, work permit or long-term pass issued by the Singapore government can buy Travel Insurance so long as it is for a round trip commencing from and returning to Singapore within the period of your travel insurance.
4. What are the types of Cover available?
You have a choice of Individual and Group Cover.
● Individual Cover: Provides cover for one insured person only.
● Group Cover: Provides cover for two or more insured persons.
5. Can I cancel my Travel Insurance?
You may cancel the policy at any time but there will be no refund of premium once the policy is issued. Any cancellation refund request will be handled as an exception.
6. What is the definition of "Child"?
A child refers to a person aged over one month and below 18 years old.
7. Can I buy an Individual Cover for my child only?
No, you can’t. Individual Cover requires the main applicant to be 18 years or above.
8. I am above 70 years old. Can I apply for Travel Insurance?
Yes, there is no age limit for application.
9. When can I apply for Travel Insurance?
You can apply for Travel Insurance as long as your departure date is within 182 days from the date of application.
10. When does the travel insurance cover commence and end for each trip?
Cover starts from the time you leave your home or workplace in Singapore to begin the trip abroad and ends 3 hours after your return to Singapore or on the expiry of your travel insurance, whichever is sooner.
11. Am I covered for any pre-existing medical conditions?
Pre-existing medical or physical conditions which required consultation or treatment during the 12 months before the start of the trip will be excluded.
12. Are there any countries excluded from cover?
All countries are covered unless expressly excluded.
13. Are leisure sports such as bungee jumping, winter sports and snorkelling covered under Travel Insurance?
Yes, Travel Insurance covers zip-lining, bungee jumping, tandem skydiving, helicopter rides for sightseeing, hot air ballooning, canoeing or white water rafting with a qualified guide and up to Grade 3 (of International Scale of River Difficulty), scuba diving up to a maximum depth of 30 meters with a qualified dive instructor or dive master and with a recognized diving certification, hiking or mountaineering at mountains up to 3,000m above sea level. These activities must be carried out for leisure and non-competitive purposes with a licensed operator.
14. Can I extend the period of cover if I decide to extend my trip while overseas?
Before your existing period of cover has expired, you will need to purchase another new policy to cover the extended dates, subject to no known situations or events likely to lead to claims.

Great Eastern Insurance
1. When will the coverage for my travel policy start?
Pre-journey benefits cover trip cancellation, postponement and insolvency protection. For all other benefits, coverage starts after departure from Singapore.
2. Who can purchase GREAT TravelCare?
To be eligible, you must: be a Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident, or a foreigner with a valid Employment Pass, Work Permit, Dependant’s Pass, Student’s Pass or Long-Term Social Visit Pass residing in Singapore; be at least 18 years old at the time of purchase (only if you are the applicant); not be travelling against the advice of a qualified medical practitioner or for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment; and have bought the policy before leaving Singapore for your trip.
3. What is the maximum period of coverage for an overseas trip?
For a Single Trip Policy: 182 consecutive days.
For an Annual Multi-Trip Policy: 90 consecutive days.
4. Can I purchase travel insurance if I am already overseas?
No. You must purchase your travel insurance before setting off for your overseas trip from Singapore. GE strongly encourages early purchase as the policy also provides pre-journey coverage.
5. I’m travelling to more than one country during my trip. Can I still get a policy?
Yes. Please select all destinations on your itinerary.
6. What is the age limit for GREAT TravelCare?
For single trip policy, the insured person must be at least 1 month old to 99 years old.
For annual multi-trip policy, the insured person must be at least 1 month old to 80 years old for new applications.
7. What do I indicate as the period of insurance?
You should indicate the start date and end date of your trip for the insurance period. The start date and end date are based on Singapore time. The start date is the day you depart from Singapore, and the end date is the day you arrive back in Singapore.
8. If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore (MFA) issues a travel advisory against travelling to my destination country, am I still covered under GREAT TravelCare?
No. Travelling against a travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is not covered under GREAT TravelCare.
9. Am I covered if I purchase GREAT TravelCare after a natural disaster has already been reported by the media?
Any claims arising from a known event will not be covered unless you purchased the policy before the known event was publicised or reported by the media, or through travel advice issued by an authority, before you took out the policy.
10. If I am travelling overseas to seek medical treatment, can I take up travel insurance?
No. The policy covers people travelling overseas for business or holiday. It is not intended to cover people travelling to seek medical treatment.
11. If I am only travelling one-way, will I be able to purchase travel insurance?
Yes. Please select one-way trip. Coverage will cease when you arrive at your place of residence or workplace in the destination country within 4 days, or 3 hours after you have cleared immigration in the destination country, whichever is earlier.
12. Who is considered Family under GREAT TravelCare?
For a single-trip or one-way policy, family means: you and your husband, wife or unmarried partner, and all your biological or legally adopted children or grandchildren, who are travelling from and back to Singapore together at the same time. For an annual multi-trip policy, family means: you and your husband, wife or unmarried partner, and all your biological or legally adopted children. They do not need to travel together on each trip, but any child below 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian for the whole trip.
13. Can I purchase GREAT TravelCare for my child who is traveling on a student exchange programme or field trip?
Yes. Children below 18 years old can apply under individual cover, provided the application is made in the parent’s or adult guardian’s name. Children below 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the entire trip. The maximum period of cover for a student exchange programme or field trip is 182 consecutive days for a single-trip policy and 90 consecutive days for an annual multi-trip policy.
14. Will my sports equipment be covered if I bring it on my trip?
Yes. Platinum plan holders enjoy sports equipment coverage. This covers loss of or damage to sports equipment caused by an accident or theft during the overseas trip.
15. Are any countries excluded from coverage?
Yes. GREAT TravelCare does not cover travel in, to, or through countries on the UN sanction list and countries where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore advises against travelling.
