[Scam Advisory] What is UnionPay Scam?
There have been reports that individuals have been receiving calls/contacts from scammers impersonating Shopee employees or UnionPay Insurance employees, informing users that they have applied for UnionPay insurance and it's expiring soon. The scammers then lead users to a fake UnionPay website in the pretext of canceling automatic transfer of insurance premiums. After performing authentication process, the scammers transfers the deposits from the user's account.
It is important to note that:
- Even if the email or text message you receive contains the Shopee/UnionPay name or logo, do not reply to it or click on any hyperlink in it.
- Shopee will only contact you via our verified WhatsApp business account, official Shopee social media pages, Shopee app notification and official email account.
