What is Extended Warranty?
Extended Warranty is a group insurance policy which provides mechanical or electrical defects cover for your gadgets and home appliances purchased on Shopee's platform. Customers who purchase gadgets and home appliances on Shopee's platform may enrol into this group policy. Coverage under Extended Warranty begins after the date of expiry of the manufacturer's warranty period.
Extended Warranty is arranged by MoneeInsure Agency SG Private Limited under a group insurance policy which is underwritten by Chubb Insurance Singapore Limited and issued to Shopee as the policyholder.
How long is the policy coverage?
For a period of 12 months after the date the manufacturer's warranty expires.
Will the item I purchased on Shopee still be eligible for Extended Warranty if it already comes with a manufacturer’s warranty longer than 1 or 2 years, or the manufacturer’s warranty is an unusual duration (e.g. 3 months)?
Extended Warranty will cover your item as long as the combined duration of the manufacturer’s warranty and the Extended Warranty coverage does not exceed:
2 years in total for Gadgets and Small Appliances; or
3 years in total for Large Appliances.
This means that:
Gadgets or Small Appliances with a manufacturer’s warranty of 2 years or more are not eligible for Extended Warranty.
Large Appliances with a manufacturer’s warranty of 3 years or more are not eligible for Extended Warranty.
Is my item considered a “Gadget”, “Small Appliance”, or “Large Appliance” under Extended Warranty?
“Gadgets” refer to portable electronic devices designed for personal use (including mobile phones, laptops, desktop computers, monitors, tablets, smartwatches, cameras, headphones, speakers, wireless earbuds, microphones and e-readers).
“Small Appliances” refer to smaller household electrical appliances (including toasters, blenders, coffee makers, hair dryers and vacuum cleaners).
“Large Appliances” refer to larger household electrical appliances designed to remain in a fixed location (including refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, ovens and dishwashers).
If I am purchasing multiple items in a single transaction, can I select cover for some or all of my other electronics to be covered under Extended Warranty?
Yes, you may select the gadget(s) and/or home appliances which you wish to cover under Extended Warranty. Each gadget and/or home appliance will be issued its own unique Certificate of Insurance.
