Apart from the techniques mentioned above, there are other methods to recognize a scam, such as:

1. Non-Shopee links that request  sensitive account information like one-time passwords (OTPs) or account passwords.
2. Poor spelling and grammar

Here are some common examples of scams:

1. Claims that you have won prizes

2. Claims that something went wrong with your account/order

3. Claims that they have job offers

1. Part-time online job promising easy money
2. Claims that you will get paid for making a purchase
3. Often sent via SMS redirecting to WhatsApp

Note

Beware as scammers may use spoofed headers to make their messages look like they’re from Shopee. 

4. Claims that you will earn profits if you:

1. Transfer them money for them to invest for you
2. Release payment early for them to resell the products you purchased

In all of the above examples, the scammers may get you to do one of the following:

1. Share your OTP/account password/ShopeePay PIN number
2. Share your personal data such as your date of birth which customer service agents may use to verify a buyer's identity
3. Make payment via ShopeePay to a number they provide
4. Click on any link that will redirect you to a third-party page
5. Urgently asks you to transfer money or release payment to them

You should always ignore or report such cases as Shopee will never ask for these details via unofficial platforms. Furthermore, Shopee will never ask for your passwords and PIN numbers.

Shopee will only contact you via official channels, such as the Shopee App, our verified social media accounts, or email addresses that end with shopee.com. 

Reporting scams:

If you have submitted any account or personal information to suspicious third parties, you should immediately report it to our Shopee Customer Service. at +65 6206 6610. Alternatively, you can chat with our live agents by following the steps below: 

Go to the Me tab > Chat with Shopee > select Chat with Live Agent.

Meanwhile, change your account password and ShopeePay PIN number immediately via the Shopee App.
